replacing door locks

i am replacing the door locks on a 77 911 targa well i have the handles off and one was no, problem getting the cylinder out of it ,but the other one will not come out ,i have the key in the unit and the back linkage off but it wont pull out whats the trick, also i bought new lock kits from pelican and the screw for the back is really hard to put in i donr know if its a self taper but you can only put it in half way then the head stripes anyone had this happen with these locks for 80 dollars they are built like ****
