Help! Potential CIS problem

Maybe someone a little bit more familiar with the 83 sc CIS system can help me out.

I start the car, idles at 2000 for about 30 seconds, then quickly drops to about 600 RPMs and runs a little rough.

When it reaches operating temp (after warm up), it idles nicely at 1000 rpms and runs fine.

do I have a problem? is "idle hunting" normal for these cars and since my car doesn't "hunt" indicate some type of problem?

thanks

Mine seems to warm up in the same manner. IS your O2 sensor disconnected? 81SC

where is the 02 sensor and what does it look like? thanks

Disconnect your O2 sensor and then reset the mixture using an EGA. The sensor is in the exhaust near the cat. Follow the wire thru the left engine sill to a connector on the left side of the engine compartment. Disconnect here.

If that doesn't solve the problem...then you can start looking at other sources. Makes sense though as the sensor doesn't start working until the head sensor (right cam cover) detects correct temp.

Good Luck
Nick
