Anybody recognize this plastic piece?
It fell out while I was removing the gas tank. I didn't see where it fell out of, and can't find any spot where it seems to go. May not be important, but I'd rather not find that out the hard way.

Looks like an after-market muffler bearing. The PO probably put one in the trunk for future use. Or, in other words, sorry but I have no idea.

Could it be the "protective tube" part number 000 043 205 20 listed as part # 19 on page 120 of this diagram? That looks like the best option to me.

David, I don't think it's that, as I hadn't gone that deep in. I replaced the filter (which I don't see on that diagram) and I didn't see anything like that while I was in there. I'm not 100% positive, though.

Hah! That picture was actually taken several days after I did the work, but I almost always wear those blue nitrile gloves while working, if I can. Especially when working with fuel.
