Rust behind door seal
I have found my last and final leak in my car, it is from the door seal/cap, i will be replacing both. I have pulled back the door seal that runs down the jamb past the rocker and up the front to the windshield. Behind it along the rocker in the small channel that is presses into there is rust. Should i just sand it out, then glue the new seal in place? Should i treat it in some way before gluing in the new seal?

Take your time and clean all surfaces as best as you can clean them. Remove all adhesives all surface rust and the prime the rusty area.

If you have access to a spot blaster I'd use it to get every last bit of rust out of there, then epoxy prime and finish.
Once you glue a new seal into the channel you won't be able to keep an eye on it, and you don't want to have to replace channel sections, ask me how i know. |
And i'll probably end up wire wheeling the surface, should i sand afterwards? If so, which grit? also, I'm not too familiar with the products you are talking about, do you think you could post links to epoxy primer and finish? Preferably if I could purchase it off pelican? Also, how many coatings of each would i put on? Thanks guys.

why hasn't anyone recommended POR 15 before priming?
