Carrera fresh aor blower resostors?
The middle speed on the fresh air blower on my '88 does not work, but I do have the low and high speeds. Are the resistors part of the motor assembly? Looks like that in the Bentley wiring diagram.

I think they are in the firewall area at the foot of the passenger. Lift the board, there is a plastic box there that pulls out. At least in my '89 there is...

I think the ones in the passenger foot area are for the A/C blower, not the fresh air blower. At least on my 85 it is. I think the resistors are part of the fresh air blower mechanism.

it might be a bad contact on the dash switch. You can test the fresh air blower in the trunk by removing the carpet and the cover and then the connector. You need to figure out which of the 4 pins is ground and then apply 12 volts to each of the other three to test each of the speeds.

Thanks guys. Yes, the resistor pack in the evaporator duct are for the evaporator blower, that's for sure. Ron - good idea about checking the contacts at the dash, and verifying that the blower itself works on all 3 speeds. I replaced that motor shortly after I bought the car in '02, and I couldn't remember if the resistors were part of it or not. Given the fact that the fresh air can only be directed to the defroster or the footwell, I don't know why I'm bothering. Weird design - you'd think you could get some fresh air in your face with the OEM setup.
