Targa Bar
I have a couple of questions. I was perusing the local European salvage yard a week ago and they had a 1979 911 Targa SC. The Targa Bar or what ever it is called was in great shape. It looked like brushed stainless steel or aluminum. Not sure what it is made of.
Questions. Is that part interchangeable between all of the SC models? How hard is it to remove and install? I liked the brushed look. Rest of the car was pretty much shot.

Rob,
unfortunately, I have a cab...so I don't know if the T-bar is an integrated part of a Targa model or not. I'm sure someone will give you the answer to that question very soon. However, I do know that anyone can have that brushed look. It's just a matter of stripping the matte finish from yours. There's probably another step or 2. I'm pretty sure most of the Targa owners who have done this only needed to strip the paint, and clear coat (or re-polish occasionally). FWIW, I think the stripped look kicks a$$.

The bar cover is removable, the older ones were stainless steel and could be stripped and polished. Somewhere along the line they were changed to aluminum since they were all painted I don't know what year that ocurred maybe 1979 or 80?
