89 Carrera 3.2 needs new tires - Dunlop Direzza Sport Z1 Star Spec?

What say you?

Seem rather decent from the test and survey results and the price is right.

They're not N spec and only V rated, but how often and for how long do I go that fast?

Looks like a pretty good deal for the money. I was going to suggest Falken 452, or Hankook Rsz212, but they all seem to be about the same price range. You might get a few more miles out of the Falken's, but the Dunlop and Hankooks might have a tad bit more grip. Years ago, I used to run the SP Sport Max, and loved them! The Dunlops you mention appear to be even more aggressive than those! Only one word of warning though, all the above tires are not recommended for use under 32*. Be very careful if you do so!
You might check out www.tireseasy.com for comparison pricing. No affiliation, but I've had very good pricing and service from them.
Let us know how it work's out, and how you like the tires!

My buddy bought them and used them for a DE event. He said he loved them.

Had mine for about a year now, love 'em.

Super grip, but as others have said, don't even think about running the fronts at 30psi. I run 36/32

Oh wait, do you mean 32 degrees or 32 psi/lbs or both? IIRC Porsche inflation spec for my car is 29 front 36 rear.

Actually, I misread the other poster, but both answers are correct.

In reference to the other poster: The Star Spec is strictly a summer tire. If you get on the road when the temps start dropping below mid 30's, you will get pretty loose handling. You may also notice that they give a slight shimmy until warmed up just like a lot of summer compound tires.

In reference to my post: If you don't inflate to at least 32 psi, you will get crap handling as well. I tried to run at 36/30 and then 36/32 and the difference was night and day.

The tires ride great, don't make noise(that I can hear) and stick very, very well.

V is rated to 149mph, I have only gone that fast on a track, and then only a few times.
