I hope so. I know the clutch prices are crazy.

I will tear it down in the fall and post the details.

Thanks everyone for the 'input'. I don't think I can solve this with out tearing it apart.

Meanwhile, at least change the trans oil. Do you have limited slip diff? This will determine your gear oil selection: either 75W90NS or 75W90. The NS is for a NO SLIP diff. I use redline in mine but I've also read good reports from Mobil users. It's worth a try.

I have no idea. How do I check? (aside from doing a burnout and checking for twin black marks)

If you jack up the rear so both wheels are up, you put the trans in N and spin 1 wheel . If the other spins the same direction you have a LSD. There also is probably a code visible under the trans hatch behind the front seats, but I don't know what it is for LSD.

If you have a white sticker, about 3"x4", under your trunk lid, look for "M 220." That'll be the option code for LSD (40%).

Maybe it used to have that. I think it disappeared during the 'tub and hood straightening phase', but I will check tomorrow.

Thanks.

Update:

1. I do not have limited slip, no code under the hood. If I rotate one wheel on the hoist the other wheel turns the opposite direction.

2. Drained the tranny today. The oil was very blue/green and I am thinking (hoping) it was Swepco. Did not appear to be synthetic.

3. Very little in the way of metallic debris on the magnet. Just one tiny piece from what looks like a chipped dog tooth, really really small.

So, I will dump in some synthetic tomorrow, and see what happens....
