Have built up a 74 TSR 3.0 Lookalike from a 1972 911 T.
Need to know what is the biggest wheel tyre combination you can put on this car. The original ran on 10.5x15 and 14x15 magnesium centrlock wheels. What is the offsset or backspace on these wheels. Any body help |

I thought the '74 RSR cars had 9&11x15 wheels. Quite pricey nowdays. What size fenders do you have?

Heres a pic.
Arches make the car 6'6" wide, just fits in the garage. The RS 2.8 or 3.0 took 11" rears, 9 fronts. |

HI guys,
The '74 3.0 RSR had magnesium centerlock wheels, 10 in front and 12.5 in the rear... about impossible to find and fit. I know for a fact that some were delivered with Fuchs 9 and 11s, but they were the exception. My mechanic used to race one (real) RSR 3.0, and he went back to the five lug (widened) Fuchs, after being overtaken twice by one of his own wheels... They were a ***** to tihghten. The tech would tighten the huge nut, take a 6 foot breaker bar, junp on it once and then light a candle in the church. GeorgeK |

If anyone wants some real RSR 74 wheels they are welcome to them.
Theres a guy in the UK who has a full set 10.5x15 front and 14x15 rear, with the centrelock bolts and mounts and discs to go . He wants about £6000 ($9000) for the lot. BBS were cheaper at the time apparently so you can use them too. But I cant find any to fit. Am curretnly running 52mm spacers on the front and 26mm on the back to fill the arches out with Fuchs set of 9 and 11 by 15's |

I can't help on the wheels...but do you have any more pictures of the car - that looks kickass.
What engine are you running? Good luck finding suitable wheels. It sounds like you might be looking for something custom - not necessarily real deal/replica - given that you have the Fuchs and have rejected the mega$$ originals? Someone might be able to point you towards a suitable 3 piece wheel maker (I know RarlyL8 has something custom at the back). Thanks for pictures and details if you have them! Cam |

You can go with a set of 3-piece with Fuch centers. HRE makes 17" wheels to customer spec width and backspacing. LOTS cheaper than skinny old Fuch 9s and 11s. HA!
A couple weeks ago a fellow BBSer was selling a set of 11s and 13s from a widebody cab for something like $500. I almost called just to have them. |

Hello
The SCRS had 9 + 11 x15. The magnesium rims where not street legal in some countries and some used the cars in other classes. Also I had seen the rims with standard 5 lug pattern. AFIR the rims had been made bei Mahle/BBS. Those rims have very high magnesium contens and do rot very easy and fast. This is the reason why the where banned even from the race tracks. If you are in GB then check out the Compomotive modular rims. Grüsse |

Roland and all
Thanks for your advice. Compomotive/BBS copy seems to be the best advice, they come in at about $300 a piece in the UK. Does anyone know what the backspace/offset is on the wheels I need for the RSR. Will post more pics. Car has a 3.3 Turbo, 1 bar boost spring. Its a project I am finishing this summer with hope to track later in the year and race next year (club championship). |

Hello
The Compomotive Modular Fuchs where distributet by Dage Sport. ( Well thast some 10 years away now ) They should be able to find out what rim you need. If not I can look in my cellar for all the technical stuff i got from Compomotive. The rims are aproved by TÜV and I have all the paperwork for calculationas. The rims had been a bid more strenght then the period BBS therfore a that more heavy. I think today BBS still has an technoligical advantage but better spend the money on other places that makes more sens then gaining some 100 grams wight per axle. ET does depend on your axles. I would go to 964 or late 930 ET´s as you cane use spacers to adopt them to your needs, also symetrical beds are easier to maintain and have a thad mor ridgidy. But remember each spacer is additional unsprung wight. Grüsse |
