Leaky 3.2

I have a rebuilt 3.2 with Weber carbs that is leaking more oil than I’d like from the top of the engine at the oil intake. I’m hearing it’s one of those “that’s the way these old engines are“ responses from mechanic. Any known fixes here?

What is this "top of the engine at the oil intake"?

The oil intake is at the side and the bottom of the engine.
The crank case VENT is at the top.

Which is it?

Regardless, time to find another mechanic. Triangle of death?

Replace:
- your oil thermostat O-ring,
- the breather cover gasket,
- and sender if it appears to be wet
- also replace the braided cloth oil breather hose that runs from the top of the breather to the oil tank.

And yeah, find another mechanic!
