Disappointing test drive. 1991 C2 Turbo
This car is in fantastic shape. 43,000 miles. Triple black. PERFECT! It's for sale in my town.
I took it out for a test drive and after warming it up properly I gave it a good flogging. The turbo lag is noticeable, but not too annoying. The motor started and idled nicely and appeared to be in excellent tune. The problem is that my 3.6 SC is decidedly quicker. It has much quicker throttle response and it just plain feels faster. My SC is a little more than 2,600 pounds with a beautifully tuned suspension to match the 3.6 engine. I don't know how heavy the c2 turbo is or what HP the motor generates but I was ready to buy the car... until I drove it. I absolutely love the look of the C2 turbo. Maybe it's time to find an old 930 coupe with a blown engine and drop a 3.6 in it. Seriously. ![]()

Put a 1.0 bar spring and different exhaust (GHL, etc) and you will notice a HUGE difference in performance. And yes it will BLOW past your SC.

A 91 C2 Turbo (965) weighs approx 3100lbs. HP 320...400hp is just a few dollars away. Yasin

I think the later 964 turbos (93+??) which are much more rare and expensive and went to a EFI vs CIS were a lot quicker/more powerful...just from what I have read no experience.
Oh and I think they are 3.6 vs 3.3?

A '91 is still a 3.3, IIRC.
You never know, Mark. Two hours at a good wrench might make that car fly. Ahhhh, the woes of having a perfect car and trying to find the perfecter car. ![]() ![]()

Why do you guys keep saying "C2 Turbo"? C2 = Carrera2. It is either a Carrera2 OR a Turbo. It can't be both.

Isn't tripple black a term that refers to Convertibles? Body, Interior, Top.

Yes, triple black = black paint, black interior, black convertible top. A coupe can never be "triple black".

C2 Turbo is what porsche called them. If you think a C2 has lag don't test an older turbo. Mine has minimal lag I have a 1 bar spring and free exhaust and I guarantee it will blow past your 3.6. It has to be driven differently than a normally aspirated car but can be equally enjoyable and on the highway he c2 flies, passing is effortless.

That is what happens when you drive a stock turbo. Disappointing.
The C2T or 965, whichever name you prefer, was a bit bloated at 3100+ pounds and ~270WHP. Fantastic cars once you do the typical mods and add 100HP. If you go by the numbers your car has a better power to wieght ratio: 2600lb/240WHP = 10.8lb/hp 3100lb/270WHP = 11.5lb/hp

Well, this is a blast from the past. Welcome back!
(If there is anyone here who knows Turbos and how quick/fast they are, it's Juan)
