throwout arm
After installing transmission ,I find I can not adjust cable, I get tire rotation in all gears, weither clutch is engaged or not. I am thinking throwout arm is did not align with center of throwout bearing, and clutch is engaged all the time. Before I remove engine to check this possibilty, I am hoping someone may know if my guess is right. Thanks for any help Norm

Uh...
Year & model? All original-type components? Install trans - why was it out? Can't adjust cable? Explain... With the car raised have you used a flashlight and mirror to look at the T.O. fork/TOB through the hole in the upper half of the bell housing?

Like Peter said, you can check the alignment of the throwout bearing and Fork through the top of the bell housing. Do the tires rotate due to parasitic drag (can you easily stop them from rotating with your hands?)? IIRC, you should be able to move the throw out fork back and forth inside the bearing race and here it clicking against it in either direction.
