New member -- belated introduction

I picked up my first 911 about a month ago after looking seriously for the last year or so. She's an 80 SC, alpine white (according to the PO but I suspect GPW), euro trim, A/C delete, heater backdate. Paint could you some doin' and the suspension's well past worn but the engine runs like a top -- hardly any oil use in the 1000 or so miles I've driven.

Despite advice to the contrary and the long time looking this was the first 911 I'd driven -- big eye opener. After a clean bill of health from Taylor at GAG (Taylor, if you're reading this thanks again) I drove the 250 miles (thanks pete) back from DC to NY enjoying every minute of it. And thanks to you all; without this board I likely wouldn't have ended up in a 911.

I'm looking forward to joining the great community you guys (and handful of gals) have here. I'm sure I'll have a bunch of questions; I've found the elusive 'search button' so hopefully they're at least half-intelligent.

I would have posted sooner but I've spent most of my free time either driving or fixing odds and ends. Enough talk, on to the pics, courtesy of the PO.

Cool! Very nice, and sure looks like GPW to me, too! :)

Nice car.
One thing to put on your to do list: Recalabrate speedo (500 miles DC to NYC?)
Good luck with the new car:D

nice car... and sport seats to boot! you picked a winner. make sure to register it at the SCWDP site as well (down for maintenance right now, but back up soon). Welcome to the great community that is Pelican... and welcome to the Plot friend...

MrScott 06-02-2009 04:58 PM

Thanks for the welcome all.

Pics look better than in person. Paint is maybe a 6 out of 10. 100K miles on it, well used but well taken care of.

Yes it's about 500 from DC to NY -- I google mapped it to confirm. Am I missing something... ?

Shane, I'm familiar with the SCWDP -- is there an email list for when we finally succeed?
Need a new emblem, I was thinking I'd get the Carrera and go undercover; we'll talk offline ;)

Good on the seats! Congrats on the car.

Thanks milt,
If you remember I PM'd you a while back and you gave me some good advice. Much appreciated.

Looks great! Welcome.

Ah, euro turns and back bumper, sport seats and white paint, gotta love it!
If the paint is original you can work it back to life. Most forgiving color I know of.
Great looking engine compartment too.
Congrats on a very nice find!

GREAT looking ride Mr Scott - enjoy every minute of it.

That drive home is a surreal experience eh? Congrats!!

The PO may be right on the Alpine White, check the paint code. OUTSTANDING combo White/Blue!!! That must be somewhat rare or I just haven't seen it before.
The SCs are great drivers, good choice

Surreal and unforgetable. I got pulled over on my drive home. CHP asked for license, registration, proof of insurance. I replied that I have a license but no registration or proof of insurance; I just bought the car. He ran my license came back to the car and told me that if he just bought this car he would be doing a lot faster than 80, have a nice day!

That is a great looking SC, congratulations!
