Quarter window molding ribbon. Any alternatives?

The molding attached to the body below the quarter window needs a ribbon LINK under it. Price seems a bit steep for 5 meters of ribbon, especially if I'll only need 1 meter.
Are there any good alternatives to this, I haven't seen the part myself as it was removed (and lost) in the body shop. Tx

I'm looking for an alternative as well because the alloy trim on my car had windscreen sealant spread under it instead of the ribbon.
I seemed to work well but it as a big mess to clean off.

I plan to visit a local parts place called "Rare Spares".

They stock old/obsolete windscreen rubber and other auto rubber parts for Aussie made cars.
I'm sure they would have a piece of rubber the appropriate width and thickness to do the job of the OEM part.

I plan to measure the thin flange at the edge of the alloy strip and get rubber about .5mm thicker than that.
The three screws holding the trim piece in place should compress the trim piece down.

Do you know anyone with a 911 that you could look at and take some photos of the area?

Seems like a plan, I'd just make sure it doesn't absorb moisture. The screws should compress sufficiently indeed.

I used a black putty product made by 3M. You could mold it with your fingers and press it into the bottom of the metal piece.

This is what was on mine... It worked well but I would prefer to go the OEM way.

The dum dum is generally a clay base product that can absorb water a better product to use is a Butyl ? tape product that the better RV shops use instead it's about $7-8 per 30 ft. roll way better stuff that is never going to be seen.

3M™ Strip Caulk, 08578, Black, 60-1 ft Strips per box, 12 boxes per case

Soft non-hardening caulking material in one foot lengths for use in all types of seams, joints and openings. This product is easily thumbed into place and smoothed with a finger. It may be painted immediately.

Wurth sell the correct stripping. Only issue is that you have to buy the entire roll

This is exactly what I bought. Used it for the fenders, rear lens assembly and below all the trim. Forgot to thank you for the tip. It was about 20 Euro for a whole box( 60 ft)
