Help with 6 Pin CDI tacho problems

Hello I'm new to the forum but it looks like there's a wealth of knowledge on here.

I have a 3.0L SC engine in a 72 VW baywindow camper running the std Porsche 6 pin CDI ignition. My problem is i can't seem to make it drive a normal rev counter. the coil cant be used as a trigger due to the cdi system and the T pin on the cdi box has no effect.

Is there a way of using the Porsche tacho signal to operate a normal switched earth tacho. Its a Sunpro unit I'm trying to operate by the way.

Thanks

Bubba
