stud question
Does anybody know the proper size of the studs that hold the internal oil cooler on the engine.
I have one stripped out and need to replace it. Mike |

wont you have to go next size up & put in an insert in order to maintain the same size stud??? what about smear some EPOXY onto the sides of the stripped hole, let it harden & try to retape it ???

unknown
so far all that I know is that I was tightening the bolt and it had some good tension on it and now it does not so I am probably about to have to drill out what is there and put in a new stud if I know my luck. I will be yet again draining the oil today and working on trying to get road worthy. And of course ordering parts for sometime this week.

ordering parts
Ok,
I have removed all the stuff and oil cooler. turns out that the stud is stripped but not broken yet. I say yet cause I will have to try and put a vise grip pliers on it to try and turn it out. does anyone know if this is torqued in or if there is an easy way to get the stud out of the car? it is the upper left if you are looking at it from the right side of the car. |
