Help with 15/7 n 15/8 wheels

Hi All, Has anyone here install 15/7 front and 15/8 rear wheels with 205/55/15 tires? On early 911 1969-1972 LWB. If so, please input your thoughts? Pics of the set up would be appreciated as well. The good, the bad and not too. Thanks in advance!

Not quite
For 15" Fuchs

7 has a f/s of 74.5mm(2.93") and backspace of 121mm(7.7"), ET is 23.3mm
8 has a f/s of 99.9mm(3.93") and b/s of 121mm(4.77"), RT is 10.6mm

for 911 fitment of these wheels only the f/s is a concern and there only for 8s in back

The 8ET10.6 has a front space that wants SC/Carrera flares which a '69-72 lacks

7s fit the front fine but the 8s will require sever ride height restrictions because of the front space spec

even 7s in back will want a tire shorter than a 215/60

The ones I used to run are stamped 6 JX15 with 205x50's. These were on a '67 with no problem. They measure 7" but am assuming the 6" accounts for the bead. Your problem is going to be tire choice. I only had two for the 16"s I'm running now.

You measure the rim width from the inside to inside.

This is the spec of wheels from seller:

The front rims are 6” wide from inner bead to inner bead, 7” wide overall with a backspacing of 4 7/8”

The rear rims are 7” wide from inner bead to inner bead, 8” wide overall with a backspacing of 5 1/8”

All 4 tires are Dunlop Direzza 205/55 R15

I know the 205/55 R15 will fit into my stock 72 body, as it came with 205’s

So what you have are 6 & 7's

the 6's are ET36 the 7's areET49

205/55 is a good choice

205/60 is a tad taller

205/50 is shorter

The 7s will want spacers for use in back no matter what tire is chosen and if they are the wheels I suspect them to be will also need inner tubes
the size of the spacers wanted will depend on the tire chosen, you could use 225/50 or 215/60 or the 205s used on the 6s each will want a different spacer thickness

if using 215/60 on the 7s that will also want a 185/70 or 195/60 on the front 6's

there is also a good chance that the fronts are also tube tube too

to determine whether these are tube type or not look at the wheel profile
no safety bead - tube type

a composite pic, tubeless w/ safety bead on left, tube type w/o safety bead on right

all these are tube less

Bill, here a picture of the backspace front and rear, as the seller measure. On rear 7” would it be somewhere at ET26-28 offset on 5 1/8” as he measure? In that case, would it still need spacers? Or am I wrong on my backspace est?

here are the relevant facts, front space isn't listed but its the normal distance from wheel mounting face to the plane of the front lip, basically the same as backspace but going in the opposite direction

First picture is the rear wheel, showing 5 1/8” backspace
My est backspace is ET 26-28? You had it at ET49, correct me if I’m wrong?

Second picture is front wheel, showing at 4 7/8” backspace

a length measure needs 2 ends I only see 1 and that at an angle so I can't tell for sure.

assuming your #s are right here's what you are looking at
old is at or near the widest I've seen on a n/b 911, new is what you are looking at

there are 3 different common lip specs that affect the specs, old Fuchs, BBS and new std,

the first time I ran the #s I used Fuchs specs which are also what is used in the old section here, It appears that you are looking at steel wheels in this table I arbitrarily use the new std lip spec which may or may not be what is actually there, But it does appear to ne new spec because the lip width(say 6) appears to be 1" greater than the bead spec(7))

So all these specs are +/- a bit depending on the lip spec
