Wheel bearing dust cover tool....
Snap-On GCP10.
Saw Matt DiMaria (well respected p-car wrench in the DC area) use this when trouble shooting a bearing issue i had. Just an FYI for anyone struggling with these things. ![]()

I use the claw end of my hammer and work my way around. Never had an issue after 8 years of doing this.

2" muffler bracket is the best method I have found for these, and it costs about $2 at any local auto parts store.

I have seen cars at the track with nuts mig welded onto the end of the dustcap. A threaded rod or bolt can then be screwed on to rock the cap off with only your hand [as long as bolt is about 5-6 inches long. Alternatively, you could also use a slide hammer attached to the threaded rod, but that's overkill.

been using a catspaw myself (similar to a hammer claw) but after repeated adjustments the cap is getting a bit tore up. this should prove to be MUCH easier.

I've actually BROKEN a slide hammer getting one off a 930, the one with the nut already attached, and requiring this because of how recessed the cap fits on a 930 ......talk about insanely and ridiculously TIGHT !!!
Muffler clamp works well for 911's....

Well I've discovered the useful part is the curved handle. Works very well!

That (and a claw hammer) works like a charm. And it was $1.28

I've had that tool for 20 years, and rarely use it. Large channel locks work so much better.
