Cool I need a Denver wrench wannabe for free 911 training

I need a Denver wrench wannabe for free 911 training

I have a new(ish) 911 I want to service. My bod objects to the physical part. My friends at all the shops (mostly great former employees) are naturally very busy with DE prep and recovery, ACC concourse, upcoming PCA Parade, races and more. It IS summer after all.

I have all the tools and knowledge. Who wants to learn to tinker with a ’79 911SC?

Bring a “Pelican will work for food (and beer after)” sign.

Best,
Grady

What's your timeframe, Grady? I like learnin and live about 3 miles from you. This weekend is bad, though.

I'd love to help if I can, and learn from a pro. I'm in SLC, so would have to schedule a trip. Sounds like a couple folks might team up? When/what/where?

Jeremy is the perfect candidate. Learns all he can from Grady, then next time he tours around the country he can do Porsche work on the side .

I have a fairly flexible schedule, what kind of dates/times are you looking at?

Contact me directly: tom AT tomwintermedia.com to discuss details.

I'm close. . . well, close enough.

And I do like beer!

Dang Grady! I wish we could ship your car and fly you out here. That way we could fix your 79 and my 85 at the same time!

Grady - also interested in your time frame.

I'll be in the homeland for three weeks end of june, early july and would likely have time to contribute.

That is what I do on everyone else’s projects – telecommute via Pelican.

Now I need a warm body with a flexible back, nimble fingers and a quick mind. All I ask is ‘slow and careful’.

I don’t have any specific time frame. The car runs great. I’ll get a temp so I have a while to get emissions. While I don’t like temps, I want to pass emissions first time.

I want to keep it running – more or less. I want to go out to HPR Friday & Saturday (RMVR race) and to the Arapahoe CC concourse Sunday.

Parade is the June 26 or so and I’ll not stay much past the concourse.

For everyone’s benefit, we can post the sequence and results. All I’m planning is basic service and find any problems. No big deal.

I’ll devise some idea of the order of things. It has some ‘clunks’, probably a broken sway bar mount in RR and some loose sway bar part in the RF. Other than this, it runs well so I want to do diagnostics and some minor service first.

SO:
Weekday mornings are best for me; cool, no thunderstorms, etc. Depending on others, I’m always game for starting at first light. I have plenty of other cars so having it disabled for a few days at a time isn’t an issue.

Of course it is set too low and has the typical 915 shifting.

Best,
Grady

Darrin, you have PM.
Others, keep responding, we can have a group effort.
G.

What a golden opportunity.

I'll likely be honeymooning in Denver / Boulder in August. Think you'll need an engine rebuild then?

Congratulations on the new car.

I'm tired of Seattle area weather, and really like Colorado's scenery.

Why did I click on this thread? Now I want to move!

RMVR is down at Pueblo rather than HPR this weekend Grady and I was hoping to make it down there myself with my '72 but that did not happen as planned. That said, old friend I could lend a hand maybe some day soon. What are you wanting to do?, swap in some new plugs, air filter, valve adjust and oil change? Playing with ride height can be time eating adventure as you know. I work for beer as Gogar will attest. Let me know.
