Which muffler?

So I want more sound from the '88. (It's just ego. It sounds wimpy on the track.) My budget for this indulgent effort is $200 or less.

Given the criteria, I'm looking for input on these two mufflers. Any first hand input would be nice. Which is louder, and which has less resonance?

I'm looking at the single in/out Flowmaster 52580 and the single in/out Dynomax 17676

At this time I'm not considering dual outs because I don't want to buy a lower body panel behind RR wheel to match the one on the left. I also don't want to waste money cutting and then painting the valance.

Thoughts?

I have the Dynomax, and I really dig the sound. No resonance. The owner of the muffler shop said that the Flowmaster is louder. The Dynomax has a nice growl when I step on it and civilized when cruising. I also have a test pipe in place of the cat. When I put the cat. back on, the muffler is considerably quieter, almost disappointingly so. Be prepared to pay about $150 at the muffler shop for materials and install, muffler not included.

You could also open up your muffler and cut off the end of the perforated tube which is currently capped off. There was a picture of this in a recent Pelican thread, but I can't seem to find it. Maybe someone else remembers it and can post...

I suspect like Ben and Snipernick said, the Flowmaster is much louder and less smooth-sounding. Flowmasters are not packed with anything and they make a lot of droning or resonance. Just like Snipernick, I have the 17676 Dynomax muffler and I was very pleased with it. I used it with a Fabspeed "premuffler" cat delete resonator. It sounds quite good and performs good too. Not too loud, but plenty loud enough on the track that you can hear it above the wind noise at 100+ mph. It's fairly civil at lower rpms, but when you mash the gas and take it to redline, it screams pretty good- sort of a small V8 sound. Nice compromise muffler and it has plenty of flow such that it won't choke your 3.2

Of course you'll need a "custom" bracket and some long band clamps to secure it to the engine. Here's some pics of it installed on my car

Forgive the hack job cutout for the tailpipe. It's the first attempt at cutting an opening for the exhaust and the shape is all wrong!
