Got a quick question for you fellas. What is the difference between the 40 IDF and 40 IDA webers for 911s? Is there such an IDF?
The reason im asking is that a friend had inquired to me about this and I promised him I would get back with him after I checked with the board. Thanks. |

Do you mean 40IDA vs 40IDS ? (The IDF is a 2-barrel carb whereas the IDA/IDS/IDT's are 3-barrel).
Essentially the IDS was a modified IDA which incorporated an extra high-speed enrichment circuit. This apparently gave no increase in performance but was meant to be a safety feature to prevent destructive detonation at high revs. Andy Boyle(UK) '69 911E |

The Weber 40IDF carb. was an OEM cost-reduced part developed for Fiat for use on the ROW-version of the 124 with the 1608 cc engine and two, two-barrel carbs, and cams retarded 1 tooth ... delivering 129 hp! It was interchangeable with the Solex 40-PII carb in the same application.
