my opinion on factory-fitted fuchs
After driving several thousand miles on 16x7.5 BBS and 16x8.5 BBS, 205/55 and 225/50 respectfully, I've returned back to the original 16x6 and 16x7 fuchs-same tires. My conclusion is : FUCHS ROCK! The car handles better, is quieter, is smoother, turns quicker, and I can toss the **** out of it in the turns with confidence! I put them back on because I will be showing the car but I CAN'T BELIEVE HOW MUCH BETTER THIS SET-UP WORKS ON MY 85 carrera targa! My advice to all: unless you are a professional racer- DON'T SECOND GUESS PORSCHE ENGINEERS. They definetly know what works best on your cars. I forgot what it felt like to drive a true original porsche..........there is no substitute!
p.s. The bbs wheels were on there for the last 6 years so I couldn't remember how the fuchs even felt. [This message has been edited by R22tech (edited 01-30-2001).] |

Yep, tossable ... but controlable!
Sell the BBSs and get a pair of 16 x 8 or 16 x 9 Fuchs, and 245/45ZR-16s ... and you will really thank yourself, and the car, too! ------------------ Warren Hall 1973 911S Targa |

While I agree with you that the Fuchs are great wheels, let's not totally diss BBS either. Porsche factory racecars have used BBS wheels for decades. These BBS wheels are selected by Porsche race engineers for a reason, they are not out of place on a Porsche at all.

Now you tell me! Ay Carrumba!
As the new owner of your old BBS wheels, I'll let you know my impression of them after I spend a little time on the track. I am sure that I will be happy with them. Perhaps they will suit my purposes better than they did for you. I am looking forward to seeing pictures of your car and all of the trophies you will win now that you are back to stock. Thanks again! ------------------ E. William Reinecke 1988 Carrera Targa |
