How many own multiple 911s?

I've currently got a 993 that I love, but have been thinking about buying another 911 (an SC or Carrera) to daily drive. I currently use an E36 328is as a daily driver, but there's nothing quite like the 911 driving experience for me. How many of you currently own multiple 911s or plan to add another 911 to your garage in the future?

javadog 06-24-2009 11:53 AM

I own 6, but I have been hooked on these cars for nearly 30 years.

stevef 06-24-2009 12:35 PM

4, all running, 69,71,75,87. I see myself as having been put on this earth to give these fine cars a good home. I tell my wife there is no one else who can do the job I'm doing and that having custody while I'm alive is a privilege not a right and it is my responsibility to preserve a piece of automobile history. Not sure she buys it but it's worked so far. Wonder if I can get to 5 on that.

Davie Boy 06-24-2009 12:44 PM

I currently own two, but not by choice - a '90 964 C2 and a '71 T Targa. The wife refuses to allow me to sell the 964.

Personally, I love both cars but I find it difficult owning two at once. It's hard for me to find the time and money to maintain both, and I feel like neither one gets the attention they deserve. :(

Porsche_monkey 06-24-2009 01:10 PM

Two. Winter and summer cars. Anything less is a compromise. Tell your wife that and stick to it.

I did own two, but my wife said I was starting to look a little pretentious.

RWebb 06-24-2009 01:58 PM

never had more than 3 at once

Halm 06-24-2009 02:02 PM

Hi Andrew! I still have my 993 and I just bought an '80 SC. The new car has several track oriented mod's and I suspect it will see a lot of time there.

Good to see you are enjoying the 993 life! :D

Pascal 06-24-2009 02:04 PM

3- 70T coupe, 71E targa, 82sc targa all registered and running, just waiting for it to stop raining or a place on the ark

Hi Hal,

Congrats on the SC! I'd love to see some pics of it. Post them here or e-mail them to me when you get a chance. I've been grappling with the SC vs. Carrera decision, but your photos (and my budget!) might just push me in the SC direction.

Uh...about that wife...!

Halm 06-24-2009 02:15 PM

Andrew, it is 1,000 miles from here and because of my schedule it will be mid-July before I fly out and drive it home. A long drive on the east coast,in July, without a/c. YIKES!!!

JerryL 06-24-2009 02:26 PM

66 912 Coupe, 67 912 Euro Targa, 71 911 Targa, but I guess that does not count :-)

Oh Forgot the 68 parts car.

Regards

kenikh 06-24-2009 04:10 PM

2 - 1966 and 1969S

kycarguy 935 06-24-2009 04:16 PM

A few but who is counting...besides they are small.

silverc4s 06-24-2009 05:52 PM

As it says below. I still need a GT3...

vesnyder 06-24-2009 06:45 PM

One 911 ('83 Cab) and a 914. Nice combo. Would like to add a 911 targa to the stable and a coupe but I agree with the guy who said it is a challenge to give the two I have the attention they deserve - but I am giving it my best!

al lkosmal 06-24-2009 06:47 PM

2....a 77S almost daily driver and a 71E at 95% resto completion stage.

haycait911 06-24-2009 07:20 PM

see sig. plus a few parts/roller cars. the first one's the easiest, the second one harder, the third really tough to swing, after that it's easy to start stackin' 'em up. few people notice the difference between 3 and 4 or 5 or 6.......

'66 for straight up fun.
'80 is the A/C family wagon, and the one the wife will drive
'73 stock keeper

zotman72 06-24-2009 07:37 PM

Just got my Weissach SC running tonight after nearly 8 month hibernation. Dang it is a fun car to drive! Used to have four 911s now we are down to just three. A race shunt destroyed the fourth. A man can never have too many 911s

budge96 06-24-2009 08:45 PM

I think it's nine at last count ..trying to catch Mr Linden above"Soterick"

EarlySport 06-24-2009 09:42 PM

Three at present, all running but all needing some kind of work in the future. Don't they all? :-)

crb07 06-25-2009 01:26 AM

Two- Almost have run out of things to do to the Carrera and just got a 930; have enough on the turbo to keep me busy for a while, next one will be a 78-79 930 or early car. Don't tell wife, she will not be happy.

WPOZZZ 06-25-2009 01:40 AM

I have 3.

gamin 06-25-2009 01:48 AM

2
70T coupe ivory/black restored original owner.
88 Carrera Targa diamond blue/blue recent purchase.

MJHanna 06-25-2009 04:30 AM

down to 4,
69s vintage race car, 72 track car, 72 T, 85 3.2, 01 996

jhynesrockmtn 06-25-2009 06:25 AM

I have two running, an 82 SC, slightly modified with turbo tie rods, lowered, CB'd, HD's, SSI's, etc.

A euro 83 with a "built" 3.2, track suspension, Fiske FM10's, Carrera brakes, many other track oriented stuff.

I have a 72 911 and 69 912 in non running condition.

Will consolidate at some point. Since buying my vintage race car (a FV) I don't track the 911 enough to justify keeping it and will build one of the projects into a track car.

Why not daily drive the 993? That's been one of my thoughts. Sell both SC's and get a 993.

I bought it with the intention of daily driving it, but it was such a nice, clean example with relatively low mileage that I decided to use it only as a weekend car. Probably silly to try and 'preserve' it but that's just the way I am.
