Wedge Engineering Brackets - any experiences?

Hello
I have a set of Recaro SE seats I would like to install in my car. The seats did not come with sliders or mounting brackets, so I purchased both from Wedge Engineering.

At the time or purchase, I made it very clear that I needed to be able to mount the seatbelt anchor bolts and receptacles to the seat hardware like the stock seats.

The person on the phone assured me the wedge mounting brackets incorporate this. 3 Weeks later, I'm looking at the hardware and see no mounting tabs whatsoever. I called Wedge and am told the 2 6mm threaded holes on each side of the brackets are for exactly that. We verified that the correct hardware was shipping to me.

A) These holes go straight down, part of the brackets. There are no 'ears' on the brackets like on the stock seats.

Am I missing something here? I fail to understand - short of taking the pieces to a shop and having tabs welded on - how the seatbelts attach. So, I'm wondering if anyone else here is running wedge hardware in their early 911/912?

I've got Wedge brackets for my '69 with Recaro SPG XLs. I transferred the ears for the REPA seatbelt receptacles to the Wedge brackets. I had to clearance one of the existing slider bracket slots on the tunnel side so the drop tabs would clear (this is only an issue for (69-73).

That's funny... Wedge seems to have hit the sence here recently as the go to item to solve this problem.

A friend of mine ordered a set recently to do the same sort of conversion as you. His seat brackets have a little arm/tab off to the side that faces upwards, it has a threaded hole in it to accept the recievers.

We haven't got around to the install yet but I don't anticipate any issues.. ok that's a lie, it seems pretty straight forward.

FWIW I'm running PEP retracting belts but they use the stock seat mounting points...

REPA make retractable seatbelts used in early 911s and VWs. I think the PEP receptacle brackets are the same.
What year is your car?

Ok, here are some pics.

The first is the outside of the passenger seat. The two bolts on the right hold the Wedge Engineering adapter to the stock slider mounting points. The two on the left hold the seat belt end piece to the Wedge adapter.



The next is the tunnel side of the passenger seat. Again, the two bolts on the right hold the Wedge adapter to the stock slider mounting points. The two on the left hold the seat belt receptacle to the Wedge adapter.



The last pic shows the drop tab from the Wedge slider inserted into the stock slider bracket on the tunnel side. I had to clearance one of the slots (on both the passenger and driver tunnel sides) to allow the edge of the front drop tab to fit into the slot (since I wanted to get the seat as low as possible). These drop tabs are unique to the pre-74 Wedge adapter/sliders.

i am *such* a moron...I did not look at the stock seats carefully enough initially to see that the seatbelt ears come off of the seat assembly...DUH.

Passenger side done.
