push button start?

I can't seem to find any threads on converting a 911 from the key ignition assembly to push button start.
Has anyone done this or know of any threads containing how to do it?
Thanks
Steve

My brother did it on his 84 Carrera.

Key is turned to unlock steering wheel and arm ignition while the push button is used to crank the starter.

He had issues with intermittent start even after replacing the ignition switch parts.

He used the spot where the alarm keyboard on the right side of the steering wheel and it looks like a factory installed unit.

I'll have to check with him about the wire connections.

No
A new ignition switch assembly is $669.00 and I don't have it!
The part that is broken engages the starter so I would like to use the key to turn the car on and a switch to engage the starter. Probably $40 verses $700
The economy is killing me

$40? The switch will most likely to be under $20. Use a relay however you wire it. I planned on doing the same thing but still same old reason, no time yet and no best way to wire it yet

How mush is a used ignition on the 2sale BBS?

Why use a relay? Isn't that built in to the solenoid? All he has to do is put power to the yellow wire. Well, it's been the yellow wire so far for me.

The electrical portion of the switch is under $70.00. I recently replaced mine. Sadly it didn't correct my problem but thats a different issue for a different thread. It starts just shuts off at times. Like in turn three at the track. Not fun...

milt,
It might not sounds like it's important but I was having the problem too, not with the switch but the wire (yellow wire). Also, I tend to use relay most places I can to get stronger voltage from better source to make sure the component will work better. This is also why people are selling the starter's relay.
