Too easy of a clutch???
I went with a buddy today to drive a 1981 SC in really great shape. Everything worked and the car was easy to drive - almost too easy. The clutch went in like a Honda's - no real pressure needed. It hooked up nicely and did not slip, but I wondered if maybe this car had a power assist clutch. Jumped back into my older Targa and man, what a difference, seemed like it required 3X the force to get the car to declutch.

I drove a 78 SC recently that had an easy clutch and a suprisingly easy shifting 915 too. Makes me think about changing my clutch cable and re-busing my pedal box.

Come drive mine.
New bushings in the linkage, lubricating and adjusting the clutch cable and pedal box, Swepco, and accelerator linkage adjustment. and after several months of fiddling with the shift linkage until I was blue in the face, it finally shifts and clutches quite well. A Honda!...well I don't know about that, but it sure drives nice. Nick. ------------------ __________ Nick Shumaker 1982 911SC Coupe |

The later cars have a helper spring on the clutch, it is very different in appearance and operation from the earlier cars.
