The strut brace was installed by the previous owner.
This brace appears to hold the top of the strut in a rigid fashion. I've read several threads here that indicate that this is a bad idea and that mono-balls are the correct method. Everyone please chime in.. If I should change this then I want to do it before I break something. Thank you, HFR_Racer

Looks like a Weltmiester and they do work.. It is a good thing, you won't break anything. I have them on all but one of my 911s..

Agreed that it is a Weltmeister. I would modify it to allow the top strut spindle to move as the factory intended.
Check this thread: Weltmeister Strut Bar upgrade project

I'd concur with Harry,...... at the very least, the upper mounts need modification to allow the strut inserts to rotate freely and not simply inside the strut housings.
Honestly, its not a good design at all and the WEVO Camber King as well as the Elephant strut braces work far better without the associated binding issues that the Weltemeister ones have.

I have contemplated adding a brace and in doing so I have been sucked into Weltmeister's marketing material. Their research makes sense to me,..the idea that there is more deflection around the rubber strut bushing than in the actual deflection of the body. But I also can understand that the Weltmeister design restricts the rotational movement. Is there an option for those who like the idea of retaining the dampening power of the rubber, as opposed to mono balls, but still hold the strut spindle in its place?

Uhhh... the monoballs
![]() They allow rotation but not deflection. The weltmeister restricts the deflection too but no rotation. The rubber+weltmeister is not any more compliant.
