How to operate a 91' Carrera tail manually

Hi All,

Do anyone out there know how to turn off the tail manually. When I drive my porsche during rush hour I prefer not to have the darn thing go up and down. I know there is a switch where you can switch to the left to turn it off, but mines doesn't work. Am I doing something wrong or is my switch broken. Thanks for the info.

The tail is integral to the cooling of the engine. That's why they put in a warning light to tell you if it fails.
I'm no fan of the tail as far as looks go, but I'd rather have it up and functioning than suffer the consequences.

Do you want to leave it up or leave it down? It's not recommended to leave the tail down over 50 mph since it provides downforce at the rear and engine cooling. If you want to leave it up, you can use the control knob in the center console to raise it. However, if you go over 50 mph, the tail reverts to automatic mode and will go down again when you come to a near stop. I'm not aware of any way to permanently leave the tail in the up or down position. Again, though, I wouldn't recommend permanently locking it in the down position.

Personally, I like the tail mechanism so I get a kick out of it deploying and retracting.
