Anybody fit a Sparco EVO2 Plus seat?

My current dilemma is that I sit too high in the car, I've tried removing the cushion, tried adjusting the 'rake' of the seat, tried everything, but at 6'1" and when wearing a helmet I'm just right in the ceiling unless I lean forward. I want my helmet BELOW the roll bar to be safe in case anything happens to me when I'm tracking the car. I was about the cut out the factory seat mounting rails as I was going to mount the seat to the floor but when I mocked up a seat base that would fit nice and snug between the center tunnel and the door sill, I discovered the Sparco seat is just too wide!
Here's a picture, you can see this is how much wider it is on both sides. With those side mounts the whole thing won't even fit down on the floor at all. So I'm open to any suggestions and ideas, I've been searching like mad but haven't seen anybody with the same issue yet, thanks!

Sell it. I had the exact same problem. The 2 plus will not go between the side tunnel and the center tunnel. You would have to do major surgery. If you do a search there was some discussion.

I ended up with a Momo Nascar, the factory rails would have to be cut but it would mount to the floor between the tunnels and it was wide enough for my butt.

There is some safety issues with mounting to the floor. Might want to search on that too

erik would the fit issue have been resolved if the 'ladder' looking bits were removed leaving just the sheet metal?

Is the Nascar tall enough? My issue is finding a seat where the harness holes are tall enough for my shoulders. I've done a lot of research into mounting the seat to the floor, I've got that all figured out. The "ladder" bits go sideways across the pan, those are a non-issue and actually get the mounting surface up above any irregularities on the floor surface or curvature from the pan to the sill/tunnel.

No the ladder bits (rails) dont matter, they have to be removed anyway. The raills on the sparco were a good bit wider than the tunnel to rocker width when measured at the floor.

I think the NASCAR is OK its made for good OL' boys :-) I actually did not look at that, I will check it when I get home.

I think you can mount the standard Sparco on the floor (between the tunnels width wise). The EVO Fat boys are REALLY Wide!!

It has been mentioned many times I just want to make sure you saw this - you cant really weld to the center tunnel....and the floor metal is too thin to mount directly too. TRE doubles the floor panel to make it safe IIRC.

Try the Recaro Profi SPG XL. I have these and they fit me perfectly (I'm 6'1" and have a long torso). They fit perfectly on the factory rails, but will also fit between the tunnel and the door sill (after you remove the stock seat mounts). I had the stock mounts cut out and new mounts welded in, closer to the floor.

I have Sparco Evo 2 seats. (Not the Evo 2 Plus.) They fit fine, and are a touch lower than stock. With sliders they be about the same height as stock.

I have one of those for my passenger side, it's the same width just not as tall of a back. When you mean it fits fine, you mean mounted to the stock locating? Or down on the floor?

Something to consider.....the overall width of the seat.

In fitting Evo2's in a classical air cooled 911 body....the "wings" above the shoulders pretty much touched one another ( one seat against the other)...AND....on the other side of the seat... the outer-most portion of the seat wings were pretty much touching the door !

Evo 2 plus ?... I would say "no way"....

Edit....see my further response below. Seems Evo 2 plus will fit, but Evo 3 won't.

I mounted Evo 2 (not plus) seats for driver and passenger. Like Will said, pretty tight, not quite touching each other in the middle or the doors, but close. I bolted them directly to the risers without sliders. It took a little modification but worked fine. They definitely sit lower than the factory seats.

I debated this purchase for quite a while because mine is a daily driver and I was not sure I could live with fixed back Sparcos everyday. I have now been in them for a couple of months and absolutely love them. I feel so much more a part of the car now and they are extremely comfortable. Makes me want to drive too fast though!

just my .02

I have them bolted to the stock risers, sans sliders. I used Sparco side mounts. I did have to massage a few holes on the Sparco mounts so they'd line up with the risers. I find 98% of the people I'm instructing, or out on hot-laps, fit in the car just fine.

Oh... I need to add that 100% of the women hate the shoulder harness straps.

Here's photos of the installed seats. Perhaps it will be of some benefit.

According to the Sparco dimension sheet, the Evo2 is actually slightly wider than the Evo2+.

I retract my statement.....
GTC's response made me look at the Sparco web page. I was confusing Evo 3 with Evo2 plus.

Evo 2 plus is a slightly altered seat in all directions, if you read their ad copy carefully. Shoulder strap holes seem higher and seat is taller.

We're looking at the "B" dimension...
Evo............. 23.6"
Evo 2.......... 23.9"
Evo2+........ 23.0"
Evo 3...........25.6"

I meant to say Evo 3's ( the wide-boy) will have a hard time fitting inside a classical 911. My mistake.

Then again....Sparco's various catalogues between Italian and American printings have had some errors and inconsistencies too.

I concur....I'm 6'2, 220. Fit fine, bolted right in with B-K and Recaro hardware.

All of you tall guys are fitting fine with a helmet on? Are these sunroof or non-sunroof cars? Mine has a sunroof.

I'm 6' 3", 225 lbs with Evo 2s in a non-sunroof 911 and I have plenty of room between my helmet and the headliner - probably 2 or 3 inches. FWIW.
