I love my 78SC, but for those who can't afford this I'll let mine go for half, or $60,000.

With three layers of Dynamat and all that other stuff he put in, I can understand why he needed the extra HP. Now maybe he can keep up with my 2.0L. There has been a discussion about how adding components and modifications to your Porsche does not mean you will get any of the cash back when selling. Meaning that putting $60k into a $15k car does not equil a $75k car; in fact it could equil a $10k because they messed it up.

S-Car-Go racing does good work. But an SC is an unusual choice for a platform -- and, whichever 911 you choose, that's an awful lot of money to shovel into any car.

Sorry guys, I know reverse psychology when I see it. You all want this car. But, I'll be buying it tomorrow with the "Buy it now" option. Sorry suckers, it's gonna be mine...ALL MINE! |

To the right buyer, I'm sure it's worth $40K or so...but $120K is outright friggen ridiculous!
Sheeeet, you could buy a 993tt for that AND an early 911 AND a 914/951/928 or whatever your other pleasure might be.

What do you think the odds are that that thing is even street legal. Carbs on a 3.0 are a no-no in California, I really doubt that they are smog legal on a 3.6.
And unlike Jack's Black Beauty, 78 cars still need a smog check. Tom |

i've seen much better cars for MUCH less money. why buy that car (with no warranty) when there's so many other cars out there that are still on warranty (for the same money if not less).

I wonder how much without the fire extinguisher and stereo. What a joke! If he gets half of what he wants, we all are in the wrong business. Did you notice the red wires sort of hanging down below the steering wheel? P.O.S.!!!!

I'm not going to bother itemising, but even the $70,000 opening bid buys a lot of panel shop, wrenching, new engine, stereo, interior, etc on a $10000 SC. I mean gimme Jack's car any day. Or I bet Iris never cost $120k, and is wayyyy sweeter.
Sheesh, you could just about build that thing for $120,000 NEW ZEALAND dollars (aka the Pacific Peso at 0.41 to the US$). Cam |

Nothing surprises me anymore on Ebay.
Check out Here we have a $100 gift certificate going for $102.50. Makes sense to me. BTW I use Ebay a fair amount, mostly for vinyl records- if anyone remembers what they were- and have had very good experiences |

You guys are busting it... but did you see this part?
The Porsche emblems were all shaved and the holes were professionally plugged. The “whale tail” was taken off, and the holes in the back lid were filled as well. HA!!! Now don't you all feel foolish. A touch of Bondo definitely jacks up the value of a car by about $70 THOUSAND DOLLARS!!! ------------------ Brian Smith '91 C2 |

Obviously, this guy is trying to recoup the money he paid to get his car to this level. It doesn't look like a botch job, everything looks to be done professionally. Care to guess how much he paid for these professionally done engine, suspension, brake and body mods? Don't be surprised. There are a lot of owners who have spent close to 6 figures to restore or modify their 911. However, it's unrealistic to get that amount back on a resale unless you find the absolute correct buyer; someone who wants a turnkey project without the word "project" attached to it. I don't think he'll find that person on Ebay, but you never know; it's relatively cheap advertising. You might be surprised if you add up the total receipts for the things you've done to your car (including purchase price). I'm afraid to.
BTW, I think the 18" wheels, while impressively wide, look a little out of proportion in the side view. Otherwise a very impressive drivetrain. Sherwood Lee http://members.rennlist.org/911pcars |

Though some of the details are subjective (and whose customized car doesn't get those types of choices?) The owner sadly is deluded on the real world value of the car. I would appraise it at about $40-45k and that is only if all documentation can be produced on the mods and repairs. I am sure it is fast, but a 993 Twin turbo would still leave me enough change for a nice daily RS Carrera Clone
