Southeastern Pelicans - let's get together, yeah, yeah, yeah

Sorry, the title refers to the song from Disney's Parent Trap (hey, I have seven kids - my life is a Disney movie!).

I keep seeing the California events, and the Colorado events, blah blah blah... It is time for us Southeasterner's to unite and get together somewhere. The MTFR (Mid TN Fun Run) guys have had a lot of fun here in TN. I am thinking one of three trips that could give us room for a big pull of cars and a great picture:

Option 1 - The Dragon - this is my least favorite choice honestly as I hate the typical traffic that is out there. But, it is so famous, or maybe it is infamous... or maybe it should be notorious... At any rate, it is an option to consider...

Option 2 - Eastern Arkansas (Hwy 7 maybe) - there are some awesome roads in Arkansas. Only been on a few so far but I would love to see more.

Option 3 - The river route in IL and MO along the Mississippi River. I just drove this and found some really cool patches of asphalt and scenery. Plenty of places to stay and eat as well. Not to mention we could get as group photo by the "Welcome to Hamburg" sign - ok it is not Stuttgart, but it is something... In fact, with this option, we could probably pull in some Chicago and Indy guys as well , as they are closer to it than I am...

My idea would be to do this in September sometime due to weather. Does not leave a great deal of time to plan, but I think we could pull something cool off. It would of course be an overnighter for a lot of us... let me know your thoughts.

(sorry for "low" tech content, but it seems as no one reads the Regional boards any more... if it helps, I am going to change out my starter this weekend. Plus clean up my tranny and engine underside (filthy)... Also an oil change, tranny fluid change, and a big time cleanup job - she is filthy from the recent cross country driving...)

I like it. You're right about the Dragon though..... kinda crowded... Fall is definitely the time to do it. There's lots of good roads in the general area of the Dragon, so we might find something else around there.

Don't know if this would hurt the turnout or not, but Fall is football season, you know, and that is a sickness in the Southeastern Conference area! As for me, I care not. Seen enough to last me 'til I croak.

I'm up. I live about 15 minutes from The Dragon. Plenty of room for parking trucks, trailers and cars if anybody needs it. Plus a garage full of tools and a couch that hopefully nobody needs.

Consider this an open invitation. Everybody is always welcome to email bk911 at hotmail dot com if they are ever in the area and need some help, or just want to grab a beer.

Yep, pretty much. And add some story telling, adult beverages, story telling, good food, story telling, and make some really good friends. Oh did I mention story telling.

Bill is always lurking ... ready for a drive ... anytime ... anywhere ... muuuhahahahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

The Dragon is merely a parade lap. The real driving takes place anywhere BUT the Dragon!

Talk to Procon ... he has a special road ... reserved for qualified drivers only. No 'civilian' traffic to get in the way. TONS O'fun.
