Question AC Evaporator Motor (lube)

Pass posts describe lubricating the bearings etc on the AC evaporator motor fan. Where exactly do I lubricate? I removed it from the smugglers box and am looking at it trying to figure out what exactly to oil. Something I read it Bentleys says it holds 1.6 ozs of oil. Where does that go?

Dan,

I took all that apart a year of so ago. What I discovered is there is no place to add oil . I did squirt oil along the shaft while the motor was running and I do believe that stopped the noise from the dry bearings. I did not chance any repeat removal of the motor and replaced the motor. Still have the old motor and I am sure it has lots of life left.

Bob, did the new motor come with the plastic housing or did you have to remove it from the plastic and install the new one? I am thinking about just replacing the darn thing after reading your past posts and some others. Thanks

Dan,

The motor came bare and you have to remove the clips out of the plastic. No big deal really

Is it possible to replace the motor on the later Carrera's? At some point they changed/reversed the layout of the motor and squirrel cage setup and there is no option (per posts I've seen) to get the upgraded hurrucane/tornado fan, or whatever it's called. My fan was squeaking loudly and I removed it and now know why, the fan is VERY hard to turn and no amount of oil is helping much. I can't even seem to be able to remove the squirrel cage to get at the motor, not that it would do much good. The part is out of stock on Pelican's site and I'd prefer to avoid spending almost $300 after just rebuilding the engine. Has anyone successfully rebuilt this unit?
TIA

I think the 1.6oz.of oil you refer too is what goes in the compresor
not the evaperator motor.

Bump...sort of. Has anyone successfully replaced/upgraded the motor on the later Carreras evaporator fan? We can't use the hurricane fan due to the evaporator box set up. I have been able to get enough grease into the "bearings" on my fan to get it spinning smoothly but I think it's going to be temporary. In addition, to anyone who's done this, how did you get the squirrel cage off the motor shaft? Mine seems to be on there VERY solidly, which I suppose it a good thing but if I can get a new motor I'd like to just reuse the squirrel cage. I've seen motors for sale made by Bosch on the 'net but I don't know for sure how to tell what charactieristics they need to have, other than the same physical size obviously.
