Help removing Chain Case

I am pulling my left chain case to replace leaking seals. I am fully dissambled and the case is loose. However, I am struggling to free up the thick cam Flange (w/ 3 bolts) that attaches to the head. I assume that the gasket is holding it tight, but I am not sure how to tap it loose. I am afraid to tap too much or too hard.

Can anyone give me some guidance or recommendation for freeing this flange?

Thanks in advance.

Larry

disregard. I finally found a place to tap it out from the back.

When I reassembe, should I leave the gasket dry? Do I do anything to the large o-ring, such as lubing it with oil, etc. ?

Thanks,

Larry

FWIW, I used some curil on the gasket as a sealant and a little engine oil on the oring to make it slip into position.
