Wiring Gauge from engine compartment

I am installing a gauge in my '88 coupe and wondering what is the easiest way to route the wire/hose to the cabin from the engine. Nothing seems obvious or apparent as I look at the engine compartment, except where the fuel line goes. However, I do not know where this cacity terminates.

Thanks,

Larry

Lar,

The fuel line passes thru the 'tunnel' if i'm not mistaken, along with some wiring and shifter linkage / coupler to the tranny, (and possibly a hydraulic line?).

I'm pretty certain you can get away with passing some wiring in there, just ensure you fasten so it doesn't travel and get in the way of moving parts.

There's the access cover on top of the hump in front of the rear seats, and more forward of course under the shifter, but I'm only guessing about access under the dash behind the center console (or behind the pedal cluster/floor board),.. and I don't know where it is at the engine firewall.

if you search under shifter bushing replacement, you should see some pics-if you don't have a haynes or bentley manual.

hope this helps.

There is a channel inside the tunnel, on the right hand side, for wiring. It divides the tunnel so that the wiring isn't immediately adjacent to the gear shift rod and throttle cable. It's not easy to fish something additional in there, though. You might try running a fiberglass fish tape gently through it.

There is an area in front of the pedal cluster (you have to remove the foot board to see it) where the wires exiting the tunnel are routed to the left side of the car. You will see where some of these pass through the dash sheet metal via bulkhead plugs.

If it is a single or double wire you can go through your port where the rear window defroster wires go thru.

Use a hanger and some electrical tap then use some lube, it will slip right thru.
