Stupid question about the dist cap
Ok, I'm a real newbie here, so I can use some help. I just replaced my plugs and wires and of course didnt take note of the positions the wires plugged into the dist cap. I ASS-U-ME-d that there would be markings or some reference in my maintenance books, NOT.
Should I just start from top and go clockwise in the firing order? Counterclockwise? or something altogether different. I'd appreciate any speedy replies, I'd like to get her in the garage tonight. Thanks Todd |

Forst of all, the cap has a 'key.' It only goes on properly one way. I believe tehre is a notch in the top of the distributor housing and a matching tongue in the cap. Once you figure how it goes on, move the engine to TDC, #1. The rotor should now be pointed toward the connection for the #1 spark plug wire. Your firing order is printed on a badge in the engine compartment. My distributor turns counter clockwise.
