Hand Brake Lite on 77 911 stays on?

My brake light on my 77 911 is staying on and will no longer go off when I release the hand brake. The brake light which is located under the fasten belts light on dash, has in the past, gone off as soon as I released the hand brake so I'm assuming that it is only for the hand brake itself and not a monitor of the brake system hydraulics(?).
As this is my first Porsche, and haven't been able to find any wiring diagram for the car or even where a switch would be, I'm stuck. Must also mention none of my friends and associates own or have owned one, so I've no where to turn for help and advise.
Is there a detailed and colored wiring diagram/schematic available for this year and model? One of my problems is the car is a 77, but has an 86 3.2 engine, so I'm sure I'll also have to get an 86 wiring diagram/schematic also, for when tracing it's wiring.
A few months ago I posted in here for the first time about getting my car "legalized" on account of the engine change. Well, it went pretty much as described here, first a visual inspection by a smog ref. over at Skyline College in San Bruno, then a smog test, for which I had to do 3 pretests to get ready for the real test and I ended up passing with most excellent readings.
The car runs and drives like a dream now, and had I purchased or driven a Porsche when I started driving, I would never have bought any other car. What a fantastic automobile! Just pure fun to drive.
Well, hope you guys/gals can help me out. Thanks in advance.

I believe if you disconnect your battery for a minute or so it will reset. Chances are there is something wrong with the brakes. Mine was the master cyl.

I forgot to add....Make sure your handbrake is released when you disconnect your battery to reset it.

Mine came on when I had to access the tunel. It was the Brown ground wire that pulled loose.

Took a closer look and the copper contact housing was loose and dirty so I cleaned it and tweeked it to make a better contact for the mount, re-plug the brown wire, tested it. BINGO!

BTW, she is a beaut

Tim, you are a Wiley E Coyote "GENIUS"! Yes, I operated the battery disconnect switch, made sure the hand brake was in down position, turned the battery switch back on, ignition on and fired it up, Yes, the light is out. Thanks very much.
Do you know of any colored wiring diagram/schematic available for a 1977?

Actually, it is Feelyx the Cat and his bag of tricks.... Glad it worked for you, but be aware of your brakes, keep an eye on the fluid level, etc. When the light goes on, it usually means something is wrong. Yes I have a color wiring Diagram of the 77. PM me your email and I will scan a copy to you.
Enjoy
Tim
