Wink Cost of Shipping Front Seats???

Hey Guys,

Whats the average shipping cost for front manual seats for 78-83 911s in the US?

Actually the price from US into Canada would be more helpful.

Just trying to figure out which would make more sense. Ship good seats or dye some cork ones black... Good dye kit $150?

Those who shipped them before, do you guys remember the weight?

Whats the best shipper? Gray Hound? I don't think Gray Hound Ships across the border...

Thank you very much!!!
Gene

I've used both UPS and FedEx. You just have to get the right box size so it does not end up oversized. Not sure about cost to Canada, but as I remember it, the price domestically was somewhere around $50-$60 or so per box. I actually shipped two Recaro Pole Positions in one box both times I've shipped seats. I think FedEx and UPS are similar in price.

Hmmm, $50-60 that not bad at all in the States tho. As long are they are taken apart and boxed correctly!

Thank you!

I used to ship sporty aftermarket seats in boxes designed to ship acoustic guitars. The seats reclined far enough to fit in the flat box and it met UPS size requirements. I'm not sure the stock seats recline far enough to be perfectly flat, but a little "v" in the shape of the box shouldn't bug the guys at ups too much. Oh, my seats were without tracks. I remember the size was right on the edge of being acceptable. Otherwise the backs would have to come off. Good luck.

I packaged my '88 power sport seats via UPS in a UHaul Grand Wardrobe shipping box. They were not disassembled or anything. It was about $150. Obviously, it's more economical if you can tear down the seats so you can cut down the box.

A wardrobe box must be cut down a little bit to not be oversized. There is a hefty surcharge for oversized packages.

I shipped a pair "yellow freight" for $93 a while back. PITA. They won't deliver to your address. You need to pick up at their dock. Would not use again.

Hello Gene;

I had two Euro 1983 911SC seats shipped by UPS Ground, from Louisiana to Idaho. Both seats complete w/tracks & in a single box. Shipping cost, $110.00
Shipping weight, 78 pounds. FWIW, the shipping cost more than the seats, $75.00 for the seats.

Sorry, I can't help with shipping costs to Canada.

Good luck with whatever you decide.

I shipped a pair of small Corbeau seats in a single box from Ottawa to CA for $160 CDN via FedEx. There were mount rails and seat belts in the package too.

Greyhound ships big packages relatively inexpensively. Of course you need to be close to a station at both ends.
