Me too! (Mine anyway, although I'm sure yours is nice.)

We took ours to the east side coast of Michigan where I grew up for a classic car weekend. She ran perfectly, I might add.

I took my kids out "cruising" the strip with the other hot rodders. The event is geared towards muscle cars but the ol' 911 still gets it's share of comments from people.

Coming back, my 5YO daughter and I(she insisted on riding with me instead of in the a/c'd Mom mobile) took the back way on some 2 lane roads with the windows down and the smells and sounds of the flat six engine purring.

Very cool. My daughter is 14 now and loves going for a ride with dad. Although, she does freak out because people will pull up at a stop light and make some sort of comment (usually pleasant and nice).

Recently on one of our drives my eldest daughter said... "It's impossible to be unhappy in this car"

There's good attention and bad attention.

The good...

I was sitting at a stop light recently with the windows down. Guy on a road crew laying fiber RAN towards my car and stuck half his body in the passenger window. I was expecting him to either tell me the car was on fire or I was being carjacked. Turns out he just wanted to tell me how good the car looked and asked what year it was. Scared me to death at first because it's not often someone drops into a dead sprint towards you when you're just sitting in a traffic light but I got a good laugh out of it in the end.

The bad...

My kids love the attention when they ride with me. People randomly wave or point at the car and give us a thumbs up. They think it's a hoot and they meet some friendly people. What they HATE is when we get stopped by another Porsche fan who wants to talk, compare notes, tell stories, etc. They can usually spot the person walking across the parking lot and they just sigh because they know it's gonna be 30 minutes to an hour before we get back to whatever we were doing.

The ugly...

Went out for a spin today. We just got back from vacation and I was jonesing for a drive. While on vacation I was doing some reading about adjusting timing and dwell and I wanted to check my settings. So I went out on a little run to get the engine warmed up. Heading to the interstate I was riding behind a CLK 550 cruising along. There are double lanes getting on the interstate so I passed. Well, I guess he considered that throwing down the gauntlet so he came after me. I wasn't out to race -- just enjoy MY ride. Had I done the same thing in my pickup I doubt he would've cared. But in the p-car... sometimes you get unwanted attention.

Ha, so true. Had the same thing happen with a souped up Mercedes today. He was fast, I was pretty! I then made no less than three trips into Manhattan today with Mother in law, wife, daughter and son's friend. They should call me the "Smiling Chauffeuer"!
