Bumper Question
I did a search on the subject of F/G bumpers and read that there is a nice reduction in the weight department but also a reduction in safety or structural integrity department as well.
I would like to "simplify" the look of my SC but don't want to lose safety. If I do end up replacing the bumpers are they easy to install? 1-10 on the PITA Scale is? Are there any options for cleaning up the look of an SC without totally replacing the bumpers? Particularly those big ass rubber pads on the back bumper and the fog light holes on the front. Thanks

Man, that's a sweet car.
Anyway, I have long wanted to do something similar but didn't get around to it. Last year, my wife was rear-ended at a stop sign with the 911. Slow speed, thank goodness but the lady drove off. The only damage was to the light bulb for the license plate. My rubber bumperettes did their job and prevented big damage. for that reason, I am leaving mine the the factory built it.

Don,
Thats exactly what I would like the back side to look like, maybe even a duck. Can you tell me the How's and Where's? Thanks, Mickey Nevermind. I found it. Looks like a pretty easy job. Being that my car is black I can probably get away with some black plugs to fill in holes of the bumperettes.

1 - if the bumper is a "3 mph" one then a reasonable assumption re the amt. of safety loss is that a 60 mph crash would act like a 63 mph crash...
2 - to maintain bumper function, say if you like to "park by feel" then use the Euro crush tubes - the US shocks are pretty heavy search on that as some one finally weighed them |
