Anyone with recent dealings with Jimmy Deering within the last week or so?

I've had quite a few inquiries from Pelicanites recently about Jimmy Deering because he is still working on my car, or at least I think he is still working on it. But anyway, he has gone MIA on me within the last week. Just wondering if anyone has come across him recently.

Cue Jimmy to reply and explain how he's been really sick lately.

Seems to me (with no firsthand experience) that Jimmy is really really good, as long as you don't have him do any offsite work for you.

Let's see... where's that "popcorn" smilie...

I bet the van broke down or maybe the girlfriend's baby was born? Seems plenty of great excuses that have been publicly aired here on Pelican.

Good luck to you!

POORSH....

Does he have your car ? God, I hope not.

I tried to email him yesterday to dun him for the money he owes me. I know I'll never see it but occasionally he'll actually send me a pittance. The response I got from my email was :

"Jimmy is not here at the moment. He won't be around for quite a while".

This doesn't sound good.

Unfortunately, he has my '72 in addition to another set of engine/trans and C-suspension.

POORSCH:

God, not another bad situation involving Jimmy!

As a person that did have a good experience, I posted about it. I am so sorry for others that have had things go sour.

I sincerely hope this is resolved quickly and to your satisfaction. I would be going crazy if I were you.

Hang tough!

Mike

I, like many others, used this site as reference when it came to our cars. It is just sad to see a person make a 180 turn in such a short period of time. Hanging in there.

Drdogface 08-05-2009 04:27 PM

Jimmy did indeed make a 180. When he was up in No. Cal exclusively he did do good work and had more than fair prices. He was liked and trusted universally. Once he moved South it all began to crumble and many people have been hurt badly. He still owes me $6 K which I'll never see but at least he didn't steal my car. I'll do what ever I can to help put him away

McLovin 08-05-2009 04:30 PM

How is that a 180 for Jimmy "Disappearing" Deering? He has a history of it. Much of it documented here (See posts # 2, 4 and 5 above, which allude to that history).

Anyways, hope you get your stuff back. A '72 car and all those parts, losing all of that would be a tough pill to swallow.

POORSH 08-05-2009 04:32 PM

Hope my insurance will help out with some of that bitterness

McLovin 08-05-2009 04:47 PM

Do you know where your car and parts are? Is there any way you can just go and get some or all of it back?

POORSH 08-05-2009 04:58 PM

yes, I have an idea of where it is.

When I started using him in about 2006 or so he had a good rep on Pelican in the No. Cal. area. Lots of guys sang his praise which is how a lot of us found out about him. He came to my house at least five times and did good work. Local P car club guys used him too. He does know his stuff. He stayed until 11:30 one night working on a frozen bolt on a tie rod. Never charged a nickel extra. About late 2007 he moved to So. Cal. I dunned him for the money he owed cuz he said he had no plans to leave the area...blah, blah and he's has never paid. Just BS. Since then he's gotten deeper into the fraud and con game stuff.

I'd call that a 180...
