Who can recommend a paint/body work shop: East Coast?

Hi gang,

Couldn't tell if this was the right forum. There IS a paint forum, but seems like it might exclusively cater to DIY paint. My car (& maybe my wallet) is now ready for the paint and body work. The motor and damned near 'every other thing' took 3 years. EASILY put >$15K in the whole thing, including a fresh motor, PMOs, Elephant suspension all 'round. Now have a book with over a hundred receipts. This car has aleady been dusted by an Earl Shive at some point. Ready for the real deal now. It needs a new windshield, headliner and a bit of body work. Somebody sat on the hood at one point possibly and there might be some putty behind the driver's door (magnet test). Other than that, ZERO rust save rock chips. The front bumper is dinged up a bit, but any guy worth a s__t could fix this in an hour or two.

I'll take it to the right guy anywhere, but prefer the east coast. I'll help do any prep and buy the right paint. The deal is, this final/next step is hyper-critical to me. The paint has to be right from <10 feet. I was hoping that I can find a shop who 'knows' Porsche/VW restoration specifics.

Any recommendations will be greatly appreciated. I live near DC, but doesn't mean I'm loaded, trust me.

Michael

Mike,

Greg Michaelian - Michaelian Restoration in Stuart FL (Treasure Coast) is excellent. He painted my race car which has a show car finish.

Cheers, Juan

If MA isn't too far for you, Mike's Autobody in Malden, MA does outstanding work. Mike's a great guy and has been a long-time PCA member and supporter. He's *the* go-to guy here in the Boston area. If you're interested, PM me for contact info.

BTW, you *are* going to post B4 and after pics, right? http://forums.pelicanparts.com/ultimate/wink.gif

Paint shop recommendation

Best shop in NY Metro area are the guys at Bodymotion Inc in Ocean NJ on the Jersey Shore. Owner is a long time Porsche driver and builder. They do exceptional mechanical and body work, work on cars from all over the country and beyond. Call owner Mike at 732-493-2700. Tell him Anthony B. sent you from this site. I just completed my '78 SC ground-up restoration with them. Highly recomended for the right job.
Good luck
Anthony
