Euro SC Differences

I have a'79 German market SC and I was wondering if the motor or gearing is different from a Californian SC as I had one of those a couple of years ago and the Euro SC seems quicker. I've tried to search the forums but "SC" seems to cause problems.
Thanks,
Kevin

Do a search for ROW. Row SCs have more power (204 vs 184 if memory serves me) because of higher CR and less emissions restrictions.

Bill is the guru, but I just seem to remember that the 78 SC had 180 bhp but already the next model - 79 - got 188 in Europe. Or was it in 1980 first ?

Thanks Bill! Any idea if the Trans is a LSD? I leave dual black marks when the tyres break loose. I know there should be a /12 following the 615/62, but the tab was machines or ground on a speed bump and really can't read it...

Thanks again for your wealth of knowledge!

BTW I have another 3.0 & 915:
#6402814 that's a 930/07 right? any worries about this engine?
And another 915 too: 915/62xxx (unledgable) #; 731 0964

Is the 3.0 #6402814 a good starting place to build a nice EFI 3.2l? ( 98mm, 9:8.5 cr,)
Does this engine have the larger valves some of the older ones do?

Again, thanks for you wealth of knowledge!!!!!

to tell if a 915 has an lsd raise the rear and spin a tire by hand, if the other side spins the same way there is a functioning lsd.

Yes, 930.07 MY80 US/Cdn. 3l SC. All SCs hve the same 49/41.5mm valves and cams. The difference was in port size and cam timing. MY78-79 have 39/35mm ports, MY80 up have 34/35mm ports. Bigger isn't always better. It would depend on how the heads interface w/ any replacement cams, EFI and gearing

Gentlemen,

I currently race a 1980 Weissach edition in PCA club racing as D stock. I am thinking of going to E stock next year by rebuilding the motor as a 81-83 ROW. Are the trannys the same? Or will I have to change some gears in order to show up as ROW stock?

Thanks

'80 US used 915/63 5th is 28/23(.821 OD)
'81 - 83 RoW used 915/62 5th is 28/22(.7857 OD)

the only difference in gearing is in 5th as noted above, the USA version is a noted shorter geared
