Post a/c preasure

86 carrera. My local ac repair shop says the car builds 100 psi but should be around 300 psi so how much preasure should the compresser be makeing? when the ac is on? thanks in advance is he correct. hr doesnt work on that many porsche's

He must be working off of high side (condensor) pressures. I usually just charge mine by the low side (evaporator) pressure. On R12 system a 38-40 degree evaporator is good. That would be about 35-40 lbs on the low side at about 2000-2500 rpm. The low side pressure will rise up to about 60 or 70 lbs at idle and pull down to 35 or 40 at 2500. Or you can vacuum the system down and put in spec charge ( I think my 83 is 39 oz) of refrigerant and then check with the guages. With the long refrigerant hoses on these cars I think they need to be topped off every couple years or so.
