Internal regulator
Does anyone know if all Valeo alternators were internally regulated?

There is basically 2 alternators for the 80's 911 by valeo (aka Paris-Rhone).
first is the one used in 81-83 smaller and used to replace the Motorola. The coarser thread and the 8mm allen recess in the shaft is the clue These were onboard voltage regulators. The next and larger is the Carrera alternator. You can update to the Carrera alternator but you need the fan housing also to fit properly. ruce |
