915 Trans shift problem"""Help""""stuck in dallas

Well driving to work this morning till I had to down shift at a under pass, tranny wont go into 4th later discovered I cant get into 2nd or 4th.. The car will go to Reverse but pops out if not held..???

Check the simple things first:

Coupler between the rear seats.

Shifter bushings.

Based on your descriptions, I would rule out a clutch problem.

+1 on the couple and bushings.
Simple wear will eventually cause these symptoms. 1st and 3rd will get you home but 2/4/5/R will be difficult or not work at all as they are all involve in the same gate and plane. Be very cautious of putting the shifter in 5th as it may bind and lock into place.

Sounds like the clamp at the shift bushing has moved back not allowing the shifter to engage the gears.
Put the shifter and the car in a known gear..like reverse or first. Then loosen the 8mm nut at the shift bushing and move the handle back slightly and tighten.
Remember everything in the back seat is moving in the opposite direction of the shifter.
Check the shift pattern and adjust more if necessary.
I like to do it on a road with out traffic so I can test each adjustment

Thanks, I will check the shift bushings couplers and clamps..I will tell you guys what I find thanks again..
