Rear ride height: How critical?

I noticed today that the right rear of my car sits about 1/2-5/8" lower (measured at the fender lips) than the left side. how critical are these measurements with respect to the tracking of the car? car seems to ride just fine, and i'm assuming from the even tire wear that alignment is all good...

Make sure you're on an absolutely level surface, and try measuring it a few times on a few different level surfaces. You might be surprised at how much it changes.

Measure it again with you (or an equiv. weight) in the driver's seat. If you're substantial, the sides may even out. BTW, this is the preferred method of checking vehicle height, with about 1/2 tank of fuel.

Even with all four corners level, the individual corner weights may not be ideal. On a street car, maybe no big deal, but it may make a difference in handling and braking.
