question: think of selling an extra engine

I will have an extra engine from my 1979 911 R.O.W. 3.0 and I am thinking of selling it.
I do not want to store it. What is a reasonable price to ask for, expect? Compression is good but I will get real numbers when/if I sell it. there is an oil leak from the oil pressure unit under the airbox.

any input is appreciated.

There is 3 possibilities
1. the thermostat oil seal needs replacing
2. the idiot light switch needs changing..The connection with the red top
3. The breather where the oil breather hose goes is porus and needs a gasket or a new hose

Thats all that is there

Thanks, but I have a newly rebuilt engine and I am thinking of selling the old one.
I am looking to see what I might expect for an older engine w/ oil leak.
Is it worth my time to sell it?

Mileage and compression/leakdown results will be major factors in determining a price. Does the engine come with the CIS?

At the very least I would expect that you could get $3k for it - assuming that it is a core in need of a rebuild.

I am sure that there would be few people interested in a euro 3.0. I bought an engine off of eBay last year specifically so that I could rebuild it - paid $3300 (with shipping) and the engine needed a rebuild.

Thanks for the information. It includes everything. As for the mileage, that is true mileage unknown.

Well, I guess it is worth cleaning up and putting on ebay

One more check before I put the engine on ebay.
I plan on setting the reserve at $3K I do not want to keep the engine around but do not want to get screwed out of $.
