Which deck lid to use?

I need help in which deck lid to use with tail. I have a stock 1980 911sc.
The deck lid with the tail has had a lot of the sheet metal cut out, I am guessing for a inter cooler. By having all the sheet metal cut out, will that help wth cooling the engine or not matter? I am also concerned about more water getting into the engine compartment.
Any suggestions on which lid to use would be appreciated.

Use the one you think looks best. Yeah - the big silver one looks modified to clear an intercooler. Neither one matters for air movement, unless you plan on running A/C and you want to maximize condenser surface area. Then use the silver one.

Yes, I am running A/C, but using the stock size condenser in deck lid.
It seems having more air getting in and out of the engine compartment would be a good thing, but I was told not having a inner cooler for the deck lid cut out, could disturb the cooling of the engine. Also, would added rain water effect the engine at all?

Obviously, the original deck lid is fine to use and I just need to mount the tail, but if there is added benefit to the larger cut out deck lid, then I would use it.

Well the biggest difference is the aerodynamic downforce with the big tail. The car is much more stable than with the sloped tail. Water is unimportant.

Ok, sounds like the cut out makes no difference for cooling or water issues, so I will just use the deck lid with the cutout and save the stock.

Thanks

With the tail lid, you need a front spoiler lip.

So if wish not to install the front spoiler lip then go with OEM tail.

BTW, I love that tail, do you what it is off of?

I bought the tail from a guy who had it on a 911 turbo.
I am building a rally car, so will not be using a front spoiler. The tail is really more for appearance more than anything else.

Oh I see, well, if you keep her under 75 MPH then it should not be an issue. Car should not be squirrely at speed without the front lip.

You see, with the tail at speed you will get down force on the rear and with front lip it will keep the front from lifting. Without it, you will get some front lift.

I suggest go OEM for the Rally

Sowwy, did not mean to rain on your parade :-/

Hate for you to do all the work to discover poor handling at speed. Not mention, it is scary.
