Can we see some finished pix of this install?

Bryan, that really looks cool... is it custom made?

I've seen folks build custom enclosures using an old t-shirt, stretched to fit some 3D shape and then Fiberglass resin is applied to set it up. From there, fiberglass matting is applied with more resin for strength. End result would be very similar to the OP's clever use of readily available building materials.

And again less serious........with its solid construction, you could use it for a wheel chock for a semi or boat anchor if such a need arises :D

that is pretty much all you need to do. it takes some practice and a lot of research but building with fiberglass is not really hard. even if you screw it up you can just cut and re-glass the mistakes. i use the 200lb rule for building a subwoofer enclosure - if i can put 200lbs on any given side and have no flex it is strong enough.

take a look at this page. this is a pair of enclosures i made for one of my other cars. i bought the rings from ebay and the only thing not shown is the laying of the glass mat - i accidentally deleted those shots. the finish product is on the bottom of page 1.

That is basically how I made my enclosure. It took a lot of time and it was messy but it fits perfectly and sounds great. It is also easy to remove in case I need more cabin capacity or if I am short a wheel chock.

Rob and Willtel, all this is rather inspiring. I always thought the fibreglass boxes were all voodoo and that sort of thing. It's really impressive what can be done. If you don't spill and drip resin all over the place...
