Fan Question
Hello all,
I am new to this forum and a new porsche owner, so bear with me if I am a little ignorant. My question is- There is a fan that turns on when the car is off-I believe this is a secondary cooling fan of some sort? The fan will turn off and on every 20 seconds or so while the car is running-is this normal? It seems that by turning off and on so much that it would burn something out. Any suggestions or comments on this would be appreciated. Thanks, Greg It is a 1994 911 Carrera 2 Last edited by Dino44; 08-23-2009 at 10:53 AM.. Reason: Additional info |

Greg,
The members will need to know your year/model and fan location. Gerry

It is a 1994 911 Carrera 2.
I am not sure of the fan location exactly. I can take a look at it when I get back home next week. |

Greg,
You might want to skip over to the 993 forum. Good luck, Gerry

I don't have a 993, but it sounds like an A/C fan. 20 seconds doesn't sound right. Maybe the OBD I can diagnose it.

How much will an OBD run me? And where is the best place to pickup the tool?
Thanks, Greg |

I don't have one so I can't say for sure. If you're not going to do a lot of maintenance, I wouldn't buy one. You could have a mechanic run the scan or sometimes a local autoparts store like Autozone will run it.

Now wait...we're using a Bosch Hammer to find a friggin' fan? How about like listening? "Nope, not in the engine compartment...nope, not in the trunk...nope, not in the oil tank..."

Greg,
You may have better luck on the appropriate forum for your model year. Gerry

just my opinion but he may have better luck if he has some fathom of an idea of what he's talking about.
they need an IQ test built into the key, having the two sides cut the same gives them to many options ![]() |

Holy... OK, someone made a bit of a dumbass comment, but really, everyone has a bad day and the poster obviously came here before he took a look at things himself. How about cutting the guy some slack. He's not even home to look at the car. Plus, he's still a forum rookie.
